fine art print €39

Title: Die Sehnsucht ('the longing'), 2011
Type: fine art print
Size: 32 x 32 cm / 12.6" x 12.6"

Die Sehnsucht ('the longing') is my first large scale oil painting. Because my creative process is almost entirely intuitive it can be hard for me to explain the meaning of my work. But, because I'm so often asked to, I'll try and describe what 'Die Sehnsucht' means to me.

With this painting, I wanted to capture a moment of intense and insatiable desire. The female figure is filled with this desire. It's so strong that she can't move or speak, she's completely paralyzed by it.

The crocodile and polar bear should be dangerous animals but, in the painting, they seem docile and harmless. They live in complete harmony with each other and with the woman.

The plants and the golden ginkgo leaves are mostly a construct of my imagination. I somehow feel that they're there to motivate the woman and rouse her out of her frozen state.

The original version of the painting is 140 x 140 cm, it has been shown at various exhibitions in Germany and continuous to receive consistent positive feedback. You can view it here: Die Sehnsucht, original.

I work in close collaboration with one printing facility in Munich. Our goal is to produce high quality reproductions which you can enjoy for many years to come.

Die Sehnsucht has been printed with archival inks on beautiful, lined paper. The size (32 x 32) includes a white border all around the print for framing purposes. This series of reproductions is a small edition of just 10 prints, each piece is signed and dated on the back.

All of my art reproductions are shipped flat in sturdy packaging to protect from bending. Orders outside of Europe will be sent with a track and trace service.

In the rare event that your package is delayed, please send me an email and I'll inquire with the postal services for you.
