'Existential Identity Crisis' was exhibited at the Kilkenny Arts Festival in Ireland (2013).
The piece is part of a series in which I explore the representation of women in classical stories and fairy tales. 'Existential Identity Crisis' was inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
Alice seems to have morphed into three identical versions of the white rabbit. As such, she's rendered both victim and culprit of a yet untold story. In addition, there are three versions of her: she's lost her singular identity and has been made dispensable.
Existential Identity Crisis is essentially a dark piece which addresses issues surrounding the emancipation of women. The female figures in this piece have tried to reinvent themselves, but somewhere along the way they seem to have lost direction.
This piece will be shipped flat in sturdy packaging to protect from bending. Orders outside of Europe will be sent with a track and trace service.
