original oil painting €1250
Title: Indian Girl, 2011
Medium: oil on canvas
Size: 61 x 91 cm / 24" x 35"
This painting is based on a young girl I met when traveling through India in 2009. I was walking along the Ganga in Varanasi on a hot afternoon, when I saw her running towards me with one of her friends. She stopped right in front of me and instantly started showing me her collection of postcards.
As I admired her cards, a large crowd of kids gathered around us, they were shouting things to each other in Hindi. Feeling a little overwhelmed, I quickly bought a card from her and asked if I could make a photo.
A few days later I looked at the printed picture and I was just enthralled by the girl's expression. The intensity in her gaze literally followed me around for days. I almost couldn't wait to get back to Europe, run to my studio and paint her.
It took me several months to finish the painting. And, as the portrait progressed, I sensed an increasing need to add a protective element to the piece. I eventually decided on the three pink flowers which, in my imagination, are like guardian angels.
The flowers were painted with a special structural technique, which provides the painting with a layered effect.
Indian Girl has been exhibited in the Munich Academy of the Arts and at private exhibitions. The painting has received consistent positive feedback.
Of course it would be best to view this piece in person, but I appreciate that not everybody has the means or the time to travel to my studio in Munich. I appreciate the risk involved in purchasing a large piece online and I strive to facilitate your needs in the best possible way.
This piece will be shipped flat within Europe. For international destinations, the painting will be unmounted, rolled and sent in a secure shipping tube. The wooden frame will be included.
Please contact me if you want to discuss shipping and/or payment details. I look forward to hearing from you.
